Comcast Announces Changes to State Government Affairs Team
Comcast announced some personnel changes Thursday, including snagging a former Federal Communications Commission member to help lead its government affairs shop in California.
FCC member Rachelle Chong, who also served on the California Public Utilities Commission and with the California Technology Agency, has been hired to serve as Comcast's regional vice president of government affairs for California.
"Rachelle has a proven track record as a prominent telecommunications lawyer, fair regulator and a motivational leader," said Curt Henninger, regional senior vice president for Comcast California.
Chong, a Republican who served one term at the FCC during the mid-1990s, will report to Henninger.
Comcast also announced Thursday that it has promoted Bret Perkins to vice president of external and government affairs.
In his new role, Perkins, who currently serves as a senior director of public policy, will lead the company's public affairs team at its headquarters in Philadelphia and direct the company's outreach efforts to third party groups. He will report to Kyle McSlarrow, president of Comcast-NBCUniversal for Washington, and Senior Vice President for Regulatory and State Legislative Affairs Kathy Zachem.
Perkins has been with Comcast since 2001 and has helped manage local government affairs during the company's rapid growth.
