            <title>The Week Ahead</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p>There are many tech- and telecom-related events this week. Here are some of the highlights:</p>

<p><strong>Monday, Nov. 30</strong><br />
Intel's Innovation Economy Conference begins at 4:45 p.m. The session includes a discussion with remarks by White House National Economic Council Director <strong>Larry Summers.</strong> </p>

<p>The FCC will hold a field hearing on energy and the environment in Cambridge, Mass., beginning at 1 p.m. Speakers include Rep. <strong>Edward Markey</strong>, D-Mass., and <strong>Ian Bowles</strong>, Massachusetts secretary of the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs.</p>

<p><strong>Tuesday, Dec. 1</strong><br />
Intel's Innovation Economy Conference continues at 8 a.m. The day's activities include a discussion on "Building the Infrastructure for Progress" with FCC Chairman <strong>Julius Genachowski.</strong> Sen. <strong>Mark Warner</strong>,  D-Va., and House Science and Technology Committee Chairman <strong>Bart Gordon</strong>, D-Tenn., also are scheduled to speak.</p>

<p>Northrop Grumman and Purdue University will hold a media briefing at 8:30 a.m. to announce the formation of a broad "industry-academic cybersecurity research consortium."</p>

<p><strong>Wednesday, Dec. 2</strong><br />
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee will hold a hearing at <br />
10 a.m. focusing on Arbitron's radio audience measurement meter and its potential effect on diversity in radio broadcasting.</p>

<p><strong>Thursday, Dec. 3</strong><br />
The Center for Democracy and Technology will announce at 10 a.m. the launch of a new nationwide campaign to strengthen consumer privacy.</p>

<p>The House Financial Services Committee will hold a hearing at 10 a.m. on H.R. 2266, Reasonable Prudence in Regulation Act, and H.R. 2267, the Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection, and Enforcement Act. </p>

<p>The House Energy and Commerce's Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade, and Consumer Protection holds a hearing at 10 a.m. on H.R. 3993, the Calling Card Consumer Protection Act.<br />

The Phoenix Center hosts its ninth Annual U.S. Telecoms Symposium from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. FCC Commissioner <strong>Meredith Attwell Baker </strong>will deliver the morning keynote address.</p>

<p>The Internet Security Alliance will release a new cybersecurity report, which proposes frameworks for taking key issues in the Obama Administration's "Cyberspace Policy Review" document to the next level, in an effort to achieve tangible progress. The event begins at 12 p.m.</p>]]></description>
