The annual celebration -- launched in 2006 by Susan Crawford (President Obama's special assistant for science, technology, and innovation policy) -- has attracted a global network of partner organizations and individual activists. Last year, One Web Day organizers documented volunteer-driven events 34 cities around the world. Here are a few events taking place in the nation's capital:
