John Thompson, chairman and CEO of computer security and systems management firm Symantec -- who is rumored to be a finalist for the job of Commerce secretary in the new administration -- spoke at the TechNet reception on the rooftop of the Hay Adams hotel moments before President Barack Obama passed by on his parade route. "Clearly we need to get the financial engine running -- but we also have to make sure that in that process we create as many jobs as possible -- that we put Americans back to work," he said. "No industry in this country has done a better job of putting people to work -- of creating more jobs -- than the tech sector has." "We are the driving force of the U.S. economy," he said. Thompson told Tech Daily Dose that, if chosen, he would be honored to serve in the Obama administration.

Did I hear you correctly when you just said, "Clearly we need to get the financial engine running -- but we also have to make sure that in that process we create as many jobs as possible -- that we put Americans back to work.”

Hey John...do you consider previous outsourced Symantec employees to be Americans?  And what about the people who work for you now, but are soon to go bye-bye when employees in India take their jobs?  Are THEY Americans???

Someone needs to ask Mr. Thompson how he can publicly say these things while in the shadows of his company, many jobs are being outsourced to India AT THE SAME TIME I AM POSTING THIS COMMENT!!!  Yes, it's happening right now...LIVE!

John Thompson should be ashamed of himself for such falsehoods and for pandering to the Obama administration, while he secretly gives the American Dream away just to make additional profit for himself and his stock holders.

John Thompson is NOT the kind of person we need as Commerce Secretary!  We need someone who actually cares about the American people--the working class that makes his hansom salary and generous stock options possible.

Or is it your intention to put these outsourced employees back to work, Mr. Thompson? 

How about publicly answering THAT question?
